Recipe for CBD Pizza

CBD PIZZA

CBD Pizza

Already tested and approved by a number of restaurateurs, this is a convivial dish ideal for sharing with friends. It can be customized to suit your tastes, and provides a gentle, gourmet introduction to the many virtues of CBD. As cannabinoids are fat-soluble substances, their effects are enhanced tenfold when ingested with a fatty substance. Pizza is generally quite high in fat and can be adapted to a wide range of recipes, making it the perfect dish. It's up to you to choose your ingredients, according to your tastes and diet: cheese, ham, egg, mushrooms, eggplants, onions... you're the Chef!

We remind you that your CBD flowers must contain less than 0.2% THC, as stipulated by law, and that consuming them will not give you any psychotropic effects.

A 3-step recipe: pasta, bases and CBD seasonings

A good pizza is first and foremost a good dough, but CBD can also be added to your bases (tomato for purists) or seasonings. Although the effects of CBD are very mild, we advise the uninitiated to choose between these three possibilities. Regular users will be able to follow all three steps with ease.

  • Making pizza dough with CBD
  • Making tomato base with CBD
  • Season your pizza with CBD before baking

Making pizza dough with CBD

Ingredients for 3 classic-sized CBD pizzas:

  • 500g sifted flour
  • 2 tablespoons CBD olive oil (see our article here on how to make your own CBD oil)
  • 1 sachet yeast powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 250ml lukewarm water (lukewarm not hot, it's important!)
  1. Place the flour in a bowl and make a small mound, like a clod, with a well at the top.
  1. At the same time, pour the yeast, salt and sugar into a measuring cup. Add 250ml lukewarm water and stir. Cover with cling film and leave to stand for around ten minutes, until a thick, brown foam appears on the surface.
  1. Pour the contents of the measuring cup into the well. Knead by hand. If the dough is too wet, add a little flour and mix until it comes away easily from the bowl. If too dry, add very small amounts of water. The texture of the dough should be slightly sticky. Knead for 5 minutes, still by hand on a floured surface. Sprinkle with CBD olive oil and knead for a further 5 minutes.
  1. Leave to stand for at least 1 h under a damp cloth in a warm place (next to a radiator, oven, fireplace, stove...).
  1. After resting, knead a little and divide into three equal-sized balls. The dough can be frozen for later use. For immediate use: roll out the dough on a floured surface. Brush your baking sheet with a little olive oil before placing your dough on it, or use parchment paper.

Making your own tomato base with CBD

Ingredients for 1 classic-sized pizza :

  • 1 pizza dough
  • 200 grams crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons CBD oil (our recipe here)
  • 2 tablespoons CBD butter (our recipe here)
  • ½ onion
  • ½ clove garlic
  • Thyme, bay leaf, salt, pepper
  • ½ cup water
  1. Heat the CBD oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic clove and brown, without burning.
  1. Once golden, add the remaining ingredients.
  1. Stir regularly until all ingredients are well blended, then cover and leave to rest for 2 minutes over a low heat. Now you can spread the mixture on your pizza dough.

Season your pizza with CBD before baking

Once you've prepared your dough and base, you can add the toppings of your choice (eggs, cheeses, meats, vegetables...), according to your taste and diet. Decarboxylated CBD flowers* should be added at the end or halfway through cooking. Indeed, if the pizza is cooked entirely with the flowers on top, the active ingredients will be degraded by the heat. It should be noted that cannabinoids evaporate above 170°C, whereas pizzas generally cook between 200 and 220°C.

What is decarboxylation? * In order for CBDA to transform into CBD and provide all its effects, we strongly recommend that you first decarboxylate your flowers. Decarboxylation is a chemical reaction which generally takes place when heat is applied, allowing organic compounds to change state. In a natural hemp plant, CBD exists in the form of CBDa. However, our bodies have no receptors for CBDa, hence the need to decarboxylate it (which happens naturally when we smoke it). To do this, heat your flowers in the oven at 100°C for 25 minutes, then sprinkle them over the pizza halfway through cooking or after baking, as described above.

Enjoy your meal!
