How do you prepare your CBD dishes?

CBD recipe

cbd recipe: fat in the spotlight?

Candies, chocolates, infusions, edible oils, cakes, sodas, CBD butter... there are many derivatives on the market, all appreciated for their relaxing properties. A recent study by the medical journal CNS Drugs in 2018 showed that the body's absorption of CBD was facilitated in the presence of fat1

Cannabinoids are fat-soluble, meaning that unlike sugar or salt, they do not dissolve in water. Accompanied by animal or vegetable fats, they are therefore more easily assimilated by the body and reveal their effects much more effectively.

A common tip for cooking with CBD is toadd a little milk, cream, oil or butterto your CBD. The higher the fat content, the more effective the result, so use whole milk or cream with a higher fat content. For the lactose-intolerant or vegan, plant-based milks such as coconut milk will do just fine.

CBD butter and edible oils will form the basis of any dish you wish to prepare with CBD. They can easily be prepared as a sauce, marinade, cbd dressing, seasoning or dessert mix. The variations are endless. A homemade CBD recipe made from these products will give you a guarantee of quality and provenance that are much sought-after these days. They're relatively simple to make, but time-consuming, so it's advisable to make them in large quantities and store them for future recipes.

How to make your own CBD butter?

Equipment required: saucepan, kitchen thermometer, chinois, pestle and mortar, wooden spatula.

Recipe ingredients: 75 grams of CBD flowers, 250 grams of butter, water and lots of patience.

Preparation time: 3h30

  1. Preparation

We strongly recommend that you grind your CBD flowers in a mortar and pestle into small pieces, rather than powdering them, in order to better preserve aroma, texture and color. We'll leave the grinder in the cupboard for this stage.

  1. Infusion

Then simmer your CBD in the butter of your choice at around 110°C. It's important not to exceed 110 degrees, otherwise the cannabinoids will degrade. The mixture should be simmering, not boiling, and you should measure the temperature regularly with a kitchen thermometer to prevent the mixture burning at the bottom. You should keep your infusion at this temperature for around 3 hours. Patience is the mother of all virtues... and those of CBD are many!

You'll need to remain vigilant, regularly basting your butter with a little water, stirring occasionally with a wooden spatula (be careful not to drown it either). Repeat this operation as soon as the water has evaporated, just as you would with risotto. The butter is ready when an oil floats above the compact part.

  1. Filtering

Once these three hours have elapsed, comes the crucial step of filtering. The infused solution should be drained off using a strainer. Don't forget to place a container underneath, and let it run naturally without pressing, as this could damage your butter.

You can use the remaining oil for seasoning. The flowers can be discarded.Leave to cool for half an hour at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 24 hours before use.

Important data: With this dosage, you'll obtain a butter with a CBD content of between 1.5% and 3%. You can easily use it to make your own cakes, quiches, or even put it in your favorite purees to enjoy the effects of CBD and that characteristic herbaceous taste. A CBD recipe made with this butter will give you quality products!

How to make your own CBD oil (edible)?

Materials required: Bain marie, baking tray, greaseproof paper, kitchen thermometer, chinois, pestle and mortar, glass container.

Ingredients: 30 grams of CBD flowers, 450 grams of vegetable oil (hemp, coconut, olive...), water.

Preparation time: 3h30

  1. Preparation

Reproduce step 1 of the recipe for CBD butter.

  1. Cooking

Place a sheet of baking paper on a baking tray and spread your previously crushed flowers over it. Place the tray in an oven preheated to 110°C and bake for one hour at the same temperature. Low-heat cooking allows the decarboxylation process to begin without losing the terpenes that are the source of the aromas. This process is particularly important for obtaining top-quality oil.

  1. Infusion

Place the flowers and oil in your bain-marie and simmer for 3 hours at 110°C. The mixture should be simmering, not boiling, so measure the temperature regularly with a kitchen thermometer to avoid burning. At the end, you should obtain a brown-green color.

  1. Filtering

Take your glass container, place your strainer on top and pour in the oil. Make sure you extract as much oil as possible, so as not to lose any, and discard any remaining flowers.CBD oil keeps well at room temperature, in a dry place.

Important data: With this dosage, you'll obtain an oil ranging from 0.3% to 1% CBD, i.e. 300mg - 1000mg per 100ml. This recipe is therefore perfectly suited to the creation of edible oils in general (salads, seasonings, etc.).
